Block valves need to seal effectively and be secured with a chain and lock.
Bleed valves can be located between the two block valves, sized to pass the maximum leak rate, locked open and monitored for leakage.
3.7.3.4 Single Block Valve
A single locked, closed and tagged block valve, as a minimum, may be used for certain routine maintenance operations (NOTE: Hot work or welding is not considered routine maintenance), provided that none of the risk factors listed below are present.
